Lil Nas Songs List
Lil Nas Songs List

Are you looking for the best Lil Nas songs list? We have them for you here! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Georgia singer-songwriter/rapper Lil Nas X’s spectacular rise.

Lil Nas in Music Industry

With the launch of his debut studio album Montero, top-notch BET and VMA performances, charitable work, humorous pregnant images, and dressing up like golden royalty for the 2021 Met Gala, it’s safe to say he’s all over the media.

However, there is a reason for his celebrity: In his discography, Lil Nas X combines a humorous style, experimentation, and prideful vulnerability. He’s goofy, but he’s never without a reason.

He began his career as an internet personality, posting comedic videos to Twitter and Facebook, running Nicki Minaj fan accounts, and making songs like “Old Town Road” for fun until they became viral on TikTok.

He’s now a Grammy winner, the first openly LGBTQ+ Black musician to win a CMA award, a Time Magazine “25 Most Influential People on the Internet in 2019” honoree, and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree. He’s one of the musical artists that defines Gen Z, with Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and BTS.

Although Lil Nas X is still relatively new to the music scene, his new album has provided him with enough material for us to compile a proper top songs list. Here’s our ranking after listening to Montero’s previous songs!

1. MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)

It felt like the entire music business rocked when Lil Nas X released the music video for “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” earlier this year. After all, pole dancing down to hell and giving Satan a lap dance are pretty impressive achievements.

However, “MONTERO” is more than just a well-executed CGI music video: it’s a sensual song about Lil Nas X’s desire to quit faking his love interest and start behaving on a first-name basis. Almost everyone can relate to falling head over heels for a lover. This song will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

2. INDUSTRY BABY (feat. Jack Harlow)

This song (together with our #1 pick) are two of Montero’s best tracks. “INDUSTRY BABY” is the music to listen to if you need a boost. It’s nothing short of stunning, with its blasting marching band horns, powerful bass, and stand out vocals from Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow. Oh, and did we say Kanye West made it?

The upbeat tune is about both musicians overcoming obstacles and gaining clout in the music industry (thus the title).

The music video for “INDUSTRY BABY,” which involves a prison shower dance scene, Jack Harlow making out with a prison guard, and Lil Nas X escaping jail Shawshank Redemption style, became popular.

“THAT’S WHAT I WANT” is an easy-to-sing-along-to single about Lil Nas X’s quest for love, made popular by a recently-released music video shortly after the release of Montero. The lyrics may be simple, but the feelings conveyed by the song are anything but.

Lil Nas X is even making a statement with the line “you know it’s tougher to find in these times,” about how hookup culture and the COVID-19 outbreak have made it difficult for people to build lasting relationships these days.

It hurts us to put “Old Town Road” so low on the list, especially because it was the song that put Lil Nas X on the map. However, we have to consider his new musical direction and how, with his recent work, he’s attempting to become a more “serious” artist.

This song era is something Lil Nas is actively attempting to get away from, as he joked about on his Montero Show parody.

5. SCOOP (feat. Doja Cat)

Doja Cat appears as a guest on “SCOOP,” where she discusses how her hard work as a performer has given her a healthy, gorgeous figure.

The song also cites Lil Nas X’s 2018 Soundcloud mixtape NASARATI, and the lyric “I ain’t talkin’ weapons when I ask where your d—k at” was the first time he rapped publicly about his homosexuality since his 2019 song “C7osure (You Like)” at the time of teasing this song. Finally, those are our favorites of Lil Nas songs list. What’s yours? You can even listen to them on streaming platforms and also mp3juice.
